Joe Wood was born in Pennsylvania where he received his early training in music and theory. After serving in the Navy Band as an instrumentalist and arranger, he attended UCLA, receiving degrees in instrumental music, education and composition. He enjoyed a long career in California as an educator at every level from elementary through college and later devoted all of his time to composition.
